Our Nervous Systems are always working to protect us. In doing so, our bodies can become stuck in states that keep us from connecting in the present moment. As Somatic awareness develops in the body, it creates a bridge to develop somatic intuition which encompasses our emotional, mental & transpersonal patterns. Transformation in the body becomes the foundation for inner shifts.
Your body is naturally resilient and does not need to function perfectly all the time to maintain good health, but if your nervous system dysregulation goes on too long, the accumulated damage eventually results in symptoms such as anxiety, depression, burn-out, and chronic health conditions.
You can reclaim homeostasis in your body through the power of slow, anatomy-based movement to reset the nervous system and repattern body memory.
In Greek, the word Soma evolved to mean ‘the body living in its wholeness.
Many people learn to turn away from, or ignore, how their bodies respond to stressful or traumatic situations. However, when an individual leans into how their body is feeling, they may be able to better understand which emotions led to certain physical sensations. In the future, they may be able to connect physical sensations with certain emotions, potentially helping them respond accordingly by gaining a deeper understanding of mind-body techniques.
Emotions are stored as energy in our bodies. I utilize modalities such as Biodynamic Breathwork, Body Liberation Movement, Somatic EMDR, and guided somatic sessions to help you release and resolve these emotional charges.
“Many traumatized children and adults simply cannot describe what they are feeling because they cannot identify what their physical sensations mean…trauma victims cannot recover until they become familiar with and befriend the sensations in their bodies.”
-Bessel van der Kolk
Trauma is a wound that lives in your body. But, wounds can be healed! Utilizing somatic approaches and regulating your nervous system will lead to deeper connections with others and with yourself.
Being trauma informed means I have the awareness and understanding of how trauma affects our bodies, minds, and everyday lives. Recovery is innate, and our bodies hold the wisdom and power to be liberated from our wounds.
I believe in you.
