Giving Teens Tools to Thrive

The Nervous System of a teenager is undergoing many changes. About 1 in 5 adolescents reports symptoms of anxiety or depression.  The limbic and cortical regions of the brain that are sensitive to stress continue to mature during adolescence.  Prolonged exposure to stress can lead to heightened sensitivity to stressors and maladaptive neurobehavioral development.  Perturbations of the maturing adolescent brain may contribute to the increase in stress-related phsyiological symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and drug abuse.
Adolescents need tools to navigate stress, trauma, and emotional regulation.  When taught properly, teens can thrive in their bodies and not be afraid of the experiences they are having within them.  Adolescents, just like adults, want to feel safe and connected to their bodies.

The Benefits of Nervous System Regulation are profound. These include:

  • Enhanced focus and concentration

  • Better Sleep

  • Improved Emotional Regulation

  • Increased Resilience

  • Reduction of long-term effects

  • Control and Empowerment

  • Physiological Calm

Teens

When the body is regulated it will perform better in every aspect of life.

I teach teens how to work with their body, and not against it when experiencing stress, discomfort, anxiety, overwhelm. or depression. I educate on emotions and how to properly manage them in a healthy way.  I do this through experiential learning. The language of the body is sensations, not words.  The body has to be shown, not just told for lasting behavioral change and optimal performance.

I provide my clients first with understanding the science of the brain, body, and nervous system.  This context and knowing grants self-compassion and understanding for ourselves.
We learn that according to the science,..our emotions, reactions, thoughts,  symptoms, and our behaviors all make perfect sense.

I offer tools that can be implemented into everyday life, These tools provide the body with experiential learning. whereby you are guided inward to meet your unique system.

All human change at its most fundamental level is a result of changes in the nervous system.
